Street Art in Hale’iwa, North Shore

Hale’iwa is a popular destination for visitors and locals to experience different beaches, food, and sights on Oahu. Many know the North Shore as the place to go to for big waves in the winter, good shrimp trucks, and cute, small-town vibes. However, few people know about the street art present in the town when, of fact, the street art in Hale’iwa is among the most unique and exciting works on Oahu!

Colette Miller’s Global Angel Wings Project

The Global Angel Wings Project was started in 2012 in Los Angeles, California to remind humanity that we are all “angels of this Earth”. Since then, numerous angel wings have popped up all over the world! Check out the project here.

The angel wings in Hale’iwa are the only pair of wings in Hawaii. This interactive public art display is located right outside of Anahulu’s Shave Ice.

Where is it?

Parking

Parking in this area is limited. However, there is an unmarked lot on the left side of the road as soon as you cross the bridge going northbound. If that lot is full, you can also find street parking further up the road.

The Kamehameha Butterfly

The Kamehameha Butterfly was painted by S. McPherson in Hale’iwa. The mural resembles the actual Kamehameha Butterfly, which is one of two endemic species to Hawaii. This interactive art display is located right outside of Global Creations & Interiors. (Update: Global Creations is no longer in business. It is unclear if the new owner will keep the mural up).

Address: 66 Kamehameha Hwy #901, Haleiwa, HI 96712

This Bob Marley tribute was completed in 2014 by cryptik. Bob Marley was a popular reggae singer and songwriter. He was and still remains a well-known figure in Hawaii’s music scene. This mural is located on the north-side wall of Hale’iwa Surf N Sea.

Surf N Sea is located right across the street from Anahulu’s Shave Ice (where the Colette Miller Angel Wings are located)! Viewing some of the street art in Hale’iwa is a fun activity to do while roaming the streets of the small town.

Address: 62-595 Kamehameha Hwy., Haleiwa, HI 96712

Parking

Like Anahulu’s Shave Ice, parking may be hard to find. However, in addition the the unmarked lot on the left side of the road going northbound over the bridge, there is also another lot just north of the Bob Marley mural. Street parking is also available on a first come, first serve basis.
